A burger bar is coming to Walmart in the U.S., a company official announced on Thursday.
Walmart will open a new Burger King in a newly developed building in Atlanta that will be a fully integrated, high-end burger and hot dog restaurant.
The Burger King will open in 2019, a Walmart spokeswoman told Reuters in an email.
The new restaurant is expected to open in 2020 and be a full restaurant, not a smaller, independent space.
Wal-Mart’s move comes as the food industry continues to struggle with the fallout from the Super Bowl-fueled food shortage.
The Super Bowl has led to a record number of food and beverage companies reporting losses, with food giants including McDonald’s, Burger King, Chipotle, and Subway all reporting a $7.9 billion loss in the fourth quarter.
On Wednesday, the National Restaurant Association warned that consumers were being priced out of food options that were cheaper than last year.
The NRA also warned that restaurants were running out of space to serve their customers.
“It’s time for us to start looking at the food that we eat, and how we make it, and not just how many times we can eat,” NRA President and CEO John Sperling said in a video on Thursday on the NRA’s website.
