A worker at a Texas burger chain was stabbed to his death in the Cook County Jail on Friday, authorities said.
The man, who was in his 30s, was taken to Stroger Hospital in stable condition, the Cook Police Department said in a statement.
The victim was identified as Kevin J. Jones, 25, of Houston, and was being treated for stab wounds to his upper torso and upper back.
Jones had worked at the Texas Burger Kings in Austin, Texas, for six months.
In a Facebook post, the company said the man was a “very dedicated and dedicated worker.”
The Burger King posted on its Facebook page that Jones had recently been promoted to a manager and was excited to be returning to work.
The post said he would continue his “ongoing support of the local Austin community.”
